The new versions of 3D_Evolution, 3D_Analyzer, and EDM

CoreTechnologie (CT) launches its new 3D_Evolution and 3D_Analyzer 4.0, software conversion packages that have gone beyond basic data translation and analysis. This new version takes CAD, CAE and CAM automation to new levels, driving time and cost efficiency in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process.

The launch of the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) software which encompasses Digital Mock-Up (DMU) technology based on Structured Query Language (SQL) and Batch Manager that automates the engineering chore by allowing intelligent scripting. This web-based interface allows access to users across the globe to process 3D data in any CAD format as well as interact with the modules within CT’s 3D_Evolution®’s product for example: Geometry Simplification, Model Compare and Feature-to-Feature migration.

The DMU module optimizes collision computation and model capture while supporting large datasets. The Collision Detection module offers the ability to name a project and compare assembly files and parts with ease. Updating the project with version control while computing only the variances is an added benefit. The SQL database allows users to quickly and easily visualize collided parts while excluding standard components. The advanced options allow for the import of a csv file to add non-relevant or excluded parts to the project.

The Batch Manager module takes advantage of the standard built-in scripts that offer functions to automate simplification, data conversion with healing and stitching, model comparison and FEM tools. Users can specify a tolerance and select functions while converting to the target applications like merging bodies, transform assemblies, trim faces, extend faces and flip surface normals. The resultant log files can be effortlessly accessed within the web interface using any web browser.

3D_Evolution JT Converter certified by Daimler

As one of the first fully tested tools, 3D_Evolution conversion software has been officially certified for the JT data exchanges with Daimler AG.

The JT format is used by Daimler AG to exchange 3D CAD model data with its suppliers. The Certification ensures that the high quality of the converters and the model data demanded by Daimler is maintained at the highest levels. Core Technologie Certification has been granted for 3D model conversion of ProENGINEER and CATIA V5, JT parts and all related assembly structures within the PLM XML format. During the certification assessment process, JT data produced from 3D_Evolution conversion software was tested in accordance to the high quality modelling demands of Daimler AG where it subsequently met and exceeded expectations stated in the specification. Certification Criteria includes: JT version 9.5 , XT-Brep, Level of Detail (LOD) , correct colours, physical properties and attributes, as well as high quality requirements of the JT model.

With this certification, French/German software manufacturers, CoreTechnologie, has once again proven the outstanding performance of its products, its alignment to its clients and its ability to respond to new demands within the shortest space of time.

Highlights of 3D_Evolution 2014 Featurebased Conversion

The data conversion specialist for 3D design data, CT Core Technologie has announced the first details for the 2014 version of its software 3D_Evolution known. The new version will be available in March.

CT focused on the development of the software and in particular the development of feature-based transfer for fully workable models and an improved support of Product Manufacturing Information (PMI). With its unique native CAD reader technology, all the design elements and their parameters are transmitted with the models and can be further used and changed in the target system after the conversion. The new version converts 3D data with history and parametrics and in addition now also the associative 2D drawings for the migration of I-DEAS and CATIA V5 models is available. based on numerous customer projects the interfaces for Catia V4 and V5, Creo, NX, SolidWorks, and I-DEAS have been improved for the version 2014 which will in future also provide as a new interface to write data directly to Inventor.

Collision Detection for extremely large amounts of data

In the digital mock-up is the collision testing of components the so called Collision Detection an integral part of the design review process. With the Collision Manager CT Core Technologie now provides a powerful tool that calculates due to multi-processor computing and an optimized neighborhood search extremely large assemblies in a short time. The accurate 3D representation of the results and the data handling in an integrated SQL database allows fast and efficient analysis of the results.

Airbus selects CoreTechnologie for validation of data archiving for A350 XWB

Frankfurt, Germany –May 2013, Airbus has selected CoreTechnologie as the preferred vendor to validate the 3D STEP AP242 data for LOTAR (Long Term Archival and Retrieval).

Airbus chose this approach for its new A350 XWB (Xtra Wide-Body) aircraft that will be introduced in 2014.
Airbus and CoreTechnologie participate in the LOTAR consortium. The objective is to develop standards for long-term archiving and retrieval of digital data, such as 3D CAD and PDM information which allows data to be read and used again throughout its life cycle, regardless of environmental changes in computer applications used. LOTAR recommendations stipulate that archived files must first be validated to ensure the accuracy of the data for future use. Gauthier Wahu, CoreTechnologie’s Chief Technical Officer stated “We are excited to implement these standards for such an impressive company like Airbus. This joint venture was instrumental in the last release of CoreTechnologie’s flagship software product; 3D_Evolution™, which now includes a fast and reliable validation function for STEP AP242.”

Concretely, validation is based on data and properties included in the STEP file provided by the native system, in this case CATIA. These validation properties of the model primarily relate to PMI, assembly, visualization data, volume, surface and center of gravity. After importing the STEP file, 3D_Evolution’s™ validation tool, computes its properties and also compares them with values provided in the original file. Reporting functions allow measured deviations to indicate variances in the file, thus allowing the user to correct the file prior to archiving.

Pointwise and CT Core Technologies Partner for Native CAD Readers

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (2 April 2012)—Pointwise announces that the ability to read computer aided design (CAD) files in the recently released Pointwise Version 17 software for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh generation is based upon technology licensed from CT Core Technologies.

“CAD data interoperability is a serious and well-known impediment to the timely and successful application of CFD,” said John Chawner, Pointwise’s president. “That’s why we wanted to add readers for native CAD formats to Pointwise – to give our customers more options for importing geometry for meshing. After extensive research into the available technology, including use of three other products, we selected the 3D Kernel IO libraries from CT Core Technologies to provide this important capability.”

Native CAD readers for ACIS, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, NX, Parasolid, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, and STEP are bundled with Pointwise and complement the previously available IGES import. Working without a license of the CAD software, the readers import CAD data directly into Pointwise’s geometry kernel, bypassing the possibly error-inducing step of creating a neutral file. The native CAD readers work seamlessly with Pointwise’s Solid Meshing technology and can automatically assemble solid models during the import process, the models providing a means of ensuring watertight geometry and mesh.

Data formats

Most programs focus on a seperate data format. This complicates data exchange between the different CAD programs, the reason why approaches to standardizations are aspired. 3D_Evolution works with native interfaces, independently from quality of interfaces. We differentiate between CAD system-neutral and CAD system-specific data formats.
With CAD system-neutral formats only the transfer of edges, surfaces and volume models is usually possible. The construction history is usually lost, making the transferred data only partly useable. CAD system-specific data formats allow for a complete transfer of the CAD models, but are only available for a few systems.

NURBS surfaces

Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines are mathematically defined curves or surfaces, used in the field of computer graphics, as in CGI or CAD, to model any forms. The representation of the geometry information is effected piecewise by functionally defined geometry elements. Any technically producible or natural form can be represented with the aid of NURBS.
