CoreTechnologie announces 3D_Evolution 2012
Improving the functionality of modules such as the Simplifier and the analyze functions, the FEM tools, as well as the updating our numerous native CAD interfaces has been the development focus for this version.
The Simplifier was extended by several functions, among other things, it is now possible to exclude parts from simplification or remove them by their color or name. The "Simplify all in one Step" option cuts Shaft and Screws and only keeps the areas on the outside of the model. A new super powerful and easy to use Boolean Union Function helps user to merge all Bodies of an Assembly into one Volume Solid within shortest space of time. Completely new in 3D_Evolution 2012 is also the possibility to create so called bounding boxes. You can either create boxes, which reflect an approximate representation of the body or Convex hulls for a more detailed approach to the original shape. This function is now completed by a algorithm to calculate the minimum Bounding Box of parts and Assemblies used for packaging purposes.
There are also many new features in the FEM Tools Module, which are now capable to de-feature, merge, flat and to manipulate faces by a simple push of a button to prepare Models for calculation faster and even more efficient. The Analyzer Functions benefit from a new graphic outfit making the use and the evaluation of the results created by Compare, Wallthickness, Collision Detection and Backlash Functions easier than before.
3D_Evolution 2012 supports the reading of Catia V5 R22, Siemens NX8, SolidWorks 2012, Pro / Engineer Creo 1.0 and 2.0, and many other formats. More detailed information about the available interfaces are available on request from info@coretechnologies-inc.com.

Pointwise and CT Core Technologies Partner for Native CAD Readers
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (2 April 2012)—Pointwise announces that the ability to read computer aided design (CAD) files in the recently released Pointwise Version 17 software for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh generation is based upon technology licensed from CT Core Technologies.
“CAD data interoperability is a serious and well-known impediment to the timely and successful application of CFD,” said John Chawner, Pointwise’s president. “That’s why we wanted to add readers for native CAD formats to Pointwise – to give our customers more options for importing geometry for meshing. After extensive research into the available technology, including use of three other products, we selected the 3D Kernel IO libraries from CT Core Technologies to provide this important capability.”
Native CAD readers for ACIS, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, NX, Parasolid, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, and STEP are bundled with Pointwise and complement the previously available IGES import. Working without a license of the CAD software, the readers import CAD data directly into Pointwise’s geometry kernel, bypassing the possibly error-inducing step of creating a neutral file. The native CAD readers work seamlessly with Pointwise’s Solid Meshing technology and can automatically assemble solid models during the import process, the models providing a means of ensuring watertight geometry and mesh.
“CT Core Technologies is excited to provide 3D Kernel IO reading capabilities to Pointwise customers worldwide, giving an interoperability solution that is independent from all CAD applications,” said Gauthier Wahu, CTO of CT Core Technologies.
“Our partnership has assisted both companies to mitigate cost of implementation, as well as enhancements of the 3D Kernel IO product. The synergy and culture of these two companies combined will continue to create unparalleled advantages in the marketplace,” said David A. Selliman, vice president of North America Operations.
Also included in Pointwise Version 17 are an advanced implementation of the company’s T-Rex (anisotropic tetrahedral extrusion) hybrid meshing technique, the ability to group entities for ease in selection and manipulation, the ability to easily re-extrude grids generated with the software’s traditional style extrusion methods, the option to restrict application of grid algorithms to a portion of the overall grid using subgrids, updated exporters for several CAE formats, and much more.
Pointwise, Inc. is solving the top problem facing engineering analysts today – mesh generation for computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The company’s Pointwise and Gridgen software generates structured, unstructured and hybrid meshes; interfaces with CFD solvers, such as ANSYS FLUENT, STAR-CCM+, ANSYS CFX and OpenFOAM as well as many neutral formats, such as CGNS; runs on Windows (Intel and AMD), Linux (Intel and AMD), and Mac, and has scripting languages that can automate CFD meshing. Large manufacturing firms and research organizations worldwide rely on Pointwise as their complete CFD preprocessing solution.

CT presents the new Version 3D_Evolution 2011
Optimal interoperability between CATIA V5 and Siemens NX was one of the priorities in the development of 3D_Evolution 2011. The newest version of the popular conversion software recognizes not only the construction history and their features but also the associated design dimensions (Sketch Constraints) as well as assembly conditions (Assembly Constraints). Further emphasized are the PLM Processes in the important PMI and Metadata. This newest technology allows for the complete transfer of parametric, intelligent, fully editable models and also ensures that the required metadata is optimally transferred to the target environment. Unique to 3D_Evolution is the utilization of native interfaces to read all information (regardless of the source system) from the native data. For the validation of the conversion results, the fully automated geometric Model Compare tool secures the conversion process. In keeping with tradition 3D_Evolution 2011, supported native formats include all major CAD systems; newly supported pathways include 3D PDF as well as JT and STEP with PMI. Because of the new XML interface, the German/French software manufacturer recommends 3D_Evolution 2011 as a powerful bridge in PLM environments with Teamcenter and CATIA V5.
New Partnership with DP Technology
DP Technology, Software-Producer of the leading edge CAM Products ESPRIT and ESPRIT Mold, recently integrated the CT API Featurebased CAD Interfaces. For an automated generation of CAM-Programs it is also important to extract Feature- and PMI-Informationen from the native CAD-Data. Bridging the Gap between CAD and CAE
“In this global market, Multi-CAD (Computer Aided Design) environments are becoming a standard. For CAE analysts doing finite element analysis, their world revolves around a CAD/CAE iterative cycle of model, mesh, analyze, and manually update models based on CAE results; then repeat. Integrated CAD and CAE applications with associative update, together with automatic meshing algorithms, have reduced the amount of time users have needed to perform these iterations. Even so, roadblocks still occur. Between receiving the CAD model from design engineering, and execution of a meshing algorithm, CAE analysts overwhelmingly report the need to do MODEL CLEAN UP. www.cpd-associates.com
